Everyone in the world must have watched the terminator film. When the movie was first released it actually seemed somewhat of a dream, something that could never possibly come true. I mean how could robots become more intelligent then actual human beings and start having a mind of there own? Well with the current technology levels, it may only be something that is around the corner.
Technology has advanced at great speeds over the last decade and the military want to push forward and actually begin creating some type of artificial intelligence machines that will actually be able to go to war themselves. "Robots that can decide where to kill, who to kill and when to kill is high on all the military agendas," Professor Sharkey said at a meeting in London.
Although this may stop soldiers from getting killed you have to personally think about the bigger picture. Although robots could probably be created, these robots would basically not have any feelings or remorse so they could possibly end up killing whoever they want to and when ever they want too. All it would take is for someone to plant a virus into the mother board to make these machines go crazy.
I am all for one for Artificial Intelligence, but when it comes to creating something for battle, then you really have to think again. Why not instead create something that has the ability to help you write or do your house work, I mean who would not want these every day machines to help with the actual duties of life?
In my opinion a lot of people are now probably reading this article and thinking, do not worry there is no way we can create things like that. But what I would reply is that you have to understand that technology is only going to get more advanced and we have not yet linked technology in with Science too much, because when that does finally end up happening then technology and science will be endless.
